Privacy Policy

ShiftRest helps shift workers plan their sleep. This policy explains what data the app does and does not handle. The short version: ShiftRest is built local-first and collects almost nothing. Your rosters, sleep plans, and notification settings never leave your device, and we do not operate any account system or cloud sync.

1. Data that stays on your device

Everything you create in ShiftRest — your shift schedule, generated sleep plans, and notification preferences — is stored only on your device using local databases (SQLite and MMKV). Our servers do not receive and do not store this data. If you delete the app, this data is removed with it.

2. Roster photo scanning

When you choose to import a roster by photo, the image is sent to our stateless proxy server so it can be read once and turned into a schedule. Handling of that image:

• Our proxy does not store the image and does not log the image or the parsed result. The image exists only for the duration of the request.
• The proxy forwards the image, unmodified, to a third-party AI vision service (Alibaba Cloud DashScope) that performs the one-time parse. Once the parse is returned, the image is discarded.
• The extracted schedule is returned to your device, where you confirm it. It is then stored locally, as described in Section 1.

Photo scanning only happens when you actively take or select a photo. If you enter shifts manually, no image is ever sent anywhere.

3. Subscriptions and purchases

Subscriptions (ShiftRest Pro) are processed through RevenueCat, which works with Apple's App Store. In connection with a purchase, RevenueCat collects:

• An anonymous App User ID (not linked to your real-world identity)
• App Store purchase receipt and transaction information
• Device model, operating system version, IDFV (identifier for vendor), locale, and IP address

We use an anonymous identifier and do not associate purchase data with your name or email. We do not receive your payment card details; payment is handled entirely by Apple.

4. Data we do not collect

ShiftRest does not collect your name, email address, location, health data, contacts, or browsing/search history. The app contains no analytics or crash-reporting SDK of any kind, and shows no advertising.

5. Permissions

ShiftRest requests only:

• Camera — to photograph your roster for scanning.
• Photo Library — to let you pick an existing roster photo to scan.

Notifications in ShiftRest are local notifications only — scheduled on your device. There is no remote push, so no push token is sent to us or anyone else.

6. Third parties and their roles

• Alibaba Cloud DashScope — third-party AI vision service that performs the one-time roster photo parse. The image is processed under DashScope's own terms and data policies, which we do not control. We recommend reviewing Alibaba Cloud's applicable terms if this matters to you.
• Cloudflare — infrastructure provider that hosts our stateless proxy. As with any internet request, Cloudflare processes request metadata (such as IP address) as part of routing traffic.
• RevenueCat — subscription management, as described in Section 3.

7. Use for training

We do not use your data to train models. For the portions we control — our proxy and app — your roster images and parsed results are never retained or used for training. The third-party AI vision service (Alibaba Cloud DashScope) processes images under its own terms; any data handling on their side, including for model training, is governed by their policies rather than ours, and we recommend you review them.

8. Data retention

On-device data is retained until you delete it or uninstall the app. Roster images are not retained by us at all. Purchase records are retained by RevenueCat and Apple in accordance with their policies for as long as needed to manage your subscription.

9. Your rights

Because your schedule and sleep data live only on your device, you can view, edit, or permanently delete them at any time within the app, or by uninstalling ShiftRest. For subscription data held by RevenueCat or Apple, or to ask any question about this policy, contact us at wangganlin@yangzhiganlin.com. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access or delete personal data; we will honor applicable requests for data under our control.

10. Children

ShiftRest is intended for adults in the workforce and is not directed at children.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated effective date.
